AREAS OF SPECIAL FOCUS
Heather is a trained marriage and family therapist intern who works effectively with individuals, couples, and families. She is currently in process of being certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an adaptive information processing technique that has proven effective in treating trauma. Heather’s approach is to therapeutically tailor each client and involves such treatments as family-systems, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, emotionally-focused, existential, and other clinically appropriate methods.
She has extensive knowledge and experience in addictions, codependency, and dysfunctional family systems. Heather considers each client’s history and needs and looks to build opportunities so that a solid therapeutic relationship will develop in an empathetic, respectful, and compassionate environment. In designing goals for clients, Heather collaborates to attend to attachment injuries, trauma, abuse, and complicated grief and relationships that include self, others, and God.
She interacts with clients so that there is authentic and real support and practical feedback. Heather provides the in-sight and decision-making necessary for clients to address their personal life and the challenges it demands.

A SEASONED COUNSELOR
Heather has a strong passion for working with those who have been through painful and or traumatic experiences. She has, through a therapeutic process, seen how hope and healing can transform an individual’s life. Heather’s passion for hurting individuals can help them break free from pain, shame, or dysfunction and begin to live a life with healthy boundaries, a stronger sense of self, and fulfilling relationships. She has worked with numerous clients in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, spiritual direction, and identity development. Heather offers short-term and long-term therapy for couples, adolescents and individual adults and has had tremendous success in helping her clients through painful experiences that rob them of joy.
Her therapeutic approach can often focus on early significant relationships and on the ongoing emotional development of the individual. She assists families in developing more effective problem-solving strategies and explores how each member impacts the entire family.
COMMITTED TO MINISTRY
Since 1995 she has served in many ministries over the years, including small group leadership, drama teams, and working as a Sunday school teacher. Heather has used her professional training as a therapist to provide educational lectures to women’s ministries and mothers of preschoolers groups.
Heather has developed curriculum, provided workshops and lectured on topics such as dysfunctional family systems, codependency, and addiction recovery. She has a wonderful ability to engage participants into her instructional efforts and is thoughtful insightful, compassionate, and even inspirational in her interactions with them.

COMMITTED TO FAMILY
Heather has been married to her husband since 1990 and has an adult son of 19 who currently attends college and a daughter of 16 currently enrolled as a sophomore in high school. Heather and her husband have committed their family to a Christ centered lifestyle.
